Was it me or the lifestyle?
A new artist popped out of nowhere on some people's Spotify Release Radar. The artist is called KAYMC and they released a single called "all gold." It took over the weekly playlist of many Spotify users because they probably listen to one of many artists specializing in many different genres featured in the song. According to the Spotify tags, this single features Larray, 404vincent, Tobi, pluko, TSHA, Corry Wong, Griffin Johnson, and The Kid LAROI. However, these are small artists and could be different artists than whatever populates in a Google search.
"Early in my life, I realized I don't need everyone but I realized I just might need someone. Jesus Christ came into my life - ya - he was that one."
It's a pretty crazy song using sounds you would never hear together otherwise. It focuses heavier on the hip-hop side but is full of smooth yet fast electronic sounds. It's a recipe that doesn't seem to make much sense but it created something beautiful.
"I dunno. Was it me or the lifestyle?"
There is something about a ton of people getting together and creating something beautiful. In the art of brewing, something similar happened on a much larger scale. The Black is Beautiful Initiative was started by Weathered Souls Brewing in San Antonio, TX and over 1,000 breweries in all 50 states and beyond have joined the cause, a collaborative effort to raise awareness for the injustices people of color face daily. Weathered Souls provided the base recipe of a moderately high ABV stout to showcase the different shades of black which other breweries can expand on.
The single by KAYMC is about growing up and getting out of a rut. The message behind this song is completely different than the beer inititive and no one is trying to compare the messages. But there is something about a ton of people getting together to make something beautiful and this is something a lot of us should strive for.
